Zimbra Known Issues

Syncing with Treo Smartphones Generates Duplicate Calendar Entries
The meetings appear to be identical but the duplicate has a plus sign in front of the name. The problem seems to have to do with the way the Palm calendar interacts with the Calendar server.
****PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NOT A GUARANTEED SOLUTION****
THE PROBLEM CAN REPLICATE ITSELF EVEN AFTER THE FOLLOWING IS DONE

1. Perform a hard reset to completely format the phone. This is usually done by holding the reset button inside the battery compartment at the same time as the power button. The phone will prompt you for confirmation of a format.
2. Check the Treo site at http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/na/deviceselector/page_en.html
to see if there are any firmware upgrades available. The firmware version number can be checked inside the system information of the phone.
3. If upgraded firmware exists, upgrade the firmware of the phone.
4. Set the phone back up with Zimbra, but DO NOT sync calendar. This will only further perpetuate the problem (creating triplicates of all entries).
5. Do an advanced find in the Calendar tab of Zimbra. Search for all [+] [*+] and [+*] entries and manually delete them. It should be noted that users that were invited to these meetings will receive an email for every entry you delete. Please inform them ahead of time.
6. Once these entries have been completely cleared, set the calendar sync on the phone to the MINIMUM time allowed (i.e. a Month of data).
7. Sync the phone, and observe your Calendar on the Zimbra web client. Refresh the page a few times while the phone syncs in order to see if the problem is replicating itself.

Depending on the number of duplicate calendar entries you have, ITS-Collaboration Support can assist with the process above.
1. Follow the above steps through #3, upgrading the firmware of the phone.
2. Call the Service Desk (x67000) and ask that the Collaboration Support Group move all your production calendar data into a separate calendar.
3. Either wipe the production calendar, or reset it to a time when duplicate entries did not exist.
4. Set up Calendar on phone to sync for the minimum time necessary (i.e. a month) and sync the phone.
5. Observe Zimbra Web calendar to see if the problem persists.

Supported Web Browsers
Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) and Firefox are the web browsers supported by Zimbra.  Recent versions of Firefox may respond more quickly and have better functionality when managing large Contact Groups.

Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) is not supported or recommended due to several problems.
Safari is not officially supported, but recent versions of this browser perform very well.

Granting Access Rights using the Zimbra Web Client with Internet Explorer 7
When using Internet Explorer to access the Zimbra web client, you cannot grant access rights using a Contact Group that is larger than 10 entries.
The workaround for this issue would be to use Mozilla Firefox to grant access rights to a large Contact Group.

Logging Out
For optimal security and functionality, users are always directed to exit programs using the “Log Out” button rather than simply clicking the “X” on the window.

Session Locks
In Internet Explorer (version 7 or before), if you open Zimbra and then close the Zimbra window with the “X” in the upper right hand corner multiple times during the same browser session (without clicking on the Log Out button first), Zimbra may hang on opening on the third and subsequent attempts.   To clear this problem, close ALL open Internet Explorer windows and then open a fresh Internet Explorer session or restart the computer.

Email Problems
If you launch an email into a separate window, there are no buttons for reply, forward, etc.

Missing scrollbar in Web Client (Advanced Version)
If you resize the window and make it smaller, there is no scrollbar to navigate you to the right-hand side of the page. The functions do work correctly in Standard Version. You can increase your screen resolution, or temporarily switch to Standard Version.

Macintosh Mac Mail Inbox folders disappear
If a folder is created in the web Inbox using Web client, Mac Mail doesn’t see entries in that folder. The folders are not visible within Mac Mail. You can create folders within Mac Mail.

Macintosh Mac Mail – slow copy function
Occasional delays occur while copying entries between folders. The workaround is to remain patient, or use the web client.

Contacts are displayed in Random Order
Within the web client, if you access your address book when composing a message, the contacts appear in random order. However, if you open the Address Book outside the compose message window, the contacts are in alphabetical order.

Calendar Printing
The Zimbra calendar print option produces a printed copy of all calendars that are currently being viewed by the user. To print a copy of a single calendar, other calendars must first be de-selected.

Calendars printed from Zimbra contain the userid of the person viewing and printing the calendar, which may not be the same as the person or resource whose calendar is being viewed and printed.

At this time, there is only one print format available in the Zimbra Advanced version.

The Standard version of Zimbra does not have a print option. Use the browser's Print option to print the entire page.
