Calendar Events Affected by New Daylight Savings Time
The federal government has adjusted Daylight Saving Time (DST). In 2007, Daylight Savings Time begins at 2:00 AM on March 11th (three weeks earlier than previously) and ends on November 4 (one week later than previously). This change has caused on-line calendar issues that require your attention for meetings scheduled during the weeks of March 11 to April 1 and October 28 to November 4.
Meeting Owners - Adjust Oracle Calendar Events
- Log into the calendar using the Cal Poly Portal and Oracle Calendar Single Click Access, or the Oracle Calendar desktop software. (Do not check using other ways to access the calendar such as Outlook, PDAs or other handheld devices.)
- Check calendar entries the affected date ranges (see table below). Incorrect calendar entries will appear one hour later than intended.
- If an event's start time is incorrect, the event owner must update by either dragging the individual event to its proper start time or by opening the event and updating the start and end times.
For meetings scheduled during the four additional weeks of DST, meeting owners are strongly encouraged to include meeting times in the meeting title to avoid possible confusion.
All Calendar Users - Check Your Event Times
If you access your calendar through ANY other method than the My Cal Poly web portal or the Oracle Calendar desktop software, check to make sure your calendar is displaying the event times correctly. If it appears that the times are incorrect, you may need to install updates to fix the problem.

PDA Issues
When scheduling meetings in the time intervals above in a mobile device (smart phone or PDA), we suggest that you enter meeting start times in the meeting title to help with this verification.
If you use a PDA or other electronic device to synchronize your calendar, make sure you have applied the latest patches to your device. Be particularly careful if you do two-way synchronization to ensure that your device is not creating "miss-timed" or duplicate events back on the OCS calendar.
